The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza
The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza explores the life, death, and legacy of President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in Dallas on November 22, 1963.
When the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily closed the museum in 2020, staff began transitioning some of their core storytelling traditionally experienced inside the Museum to an online platform. Using Storycrafter, they have already produced two award-winning projects.
Dealey Plaza National Historic Landmark District includes a 20-minute multimedia walking tour of the plaza. It blends professional narration with home movies, radio broadcasts, photos, and oral histories from the museum’s collections. The site also includes two visual stories, built using Storycrafter’s slideshow templates.
Eyewitness to History uses Storycrafter’s map template to trace the route of President Kennedy’s motorcade on November 22, 1963. It also includes historic home movies, photos, and oral histories from the museum’s collections.
To broaden the reach of its stories, the museum has created Spanish-language versions of its stories. Storycrafter provides tools for creating multiple language versions of the same story.
